Emerging ecosystem-based Maritime Spatial Planning topics in North and Baltic Sea Regions
Main objectives
The objective of the eMSP NBSR project is to enable policymakers and maritime spatial planners from the North and Baltic Sea regions
- to reflect on current MSP practices,
- to learn effectively from each other,
- and to collectively identify problems and solutions.
The project will provide learning about emerging topics such as multi-level government, monitoring and evaluation, use of data and science, ecosystem-based approaches, and sustainable blue economy, to make better informed decisions, facilitate change and improve coordination.
Shom's role
Shom expertise is expected on the 5th thematic concerning the sharing of data, information and communication technologies. Indeed, the Shom provides data and reference information that are fundamental for the MSP implementation, including cross-border aspects related to security and maritime surveillance and has good records of dealing with those topics thanks to its previous involvment in MSP projects.

Partnership
The project is overseen by RVO (Netherlands). The consortium involves 15 partners from 9 countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden. The eMSP-NBSR project brings together national and regional authorities responsible for MSP, research organisations and intergovernmental cooperations from North and Baltic Sea Regions.
